With tapered edges and a lightweight feel in the hand, this French-style rolling pin is hand-turned from walnut and will become a cherished family heirloom. Many chefs prefer walnut because its porous surface holds a dusting of flour longer than other woods. Each rolling pin is made by hand and will vary slightly.
Woodworker Jem Klein spent years honing his craft. As a child, he’d do chores around the neighborhood to earn money to buy woodworking equipment. He started his own wood shop at the age of fifteen with a handsaw and wood from the forest. He began selling his pieces at local fairs and expanded in 2006 to sell online. Jem holds a deep appreciation for the natural environment and sources most of his wood from sustainably harvested forest or from the woods near his home. It’s important to Jem to create items that will last for generations to come. He finds inspiration in the vibrant community of artists in the South Toe River Valley, where he is surrounded by artist and maker neighbors. He lives and works in Burnsville, North Carolina, with his wife and their two sons.
